Before you check out books, you must establish an electronic library card. This card will also let you find out which audio books you have on loan from Talking Pages. To establish a library card, you will need to provide your name, mailing address, and e-mail address, and establish a password. If you are helping a visually impaired person, please provide your e-mail address, but the listener's name and mailing address. To protect your privacy, we will not sell this information or release it to any unauthorized parties. Effective January 1, 2006, books will be mailed only to users who have provided certification that they are visually impaired. Please see the Certification page for more information. You can review the library of audio books by browsing through the catalog, which provides information about each book. A library card is not needed to access the catalog. Once you have decided on which books to check out, you should proceed to the check-out page. You can have 10 audio books checked out at a time. You may keep them as long as you want, but we request that you try to return them within one month so that others may have access to them. We mail audio books every 3 to 4 weeks on a mailing date that is listed on our web site. On that date, we mail all the books requested since the last mailing date (up to a total of 10 audio books checked out per user). To determine how many books you currently have checked out, visit the online status page. The online status is updated once your request for an audio book has been processed and the book mailed.
